Note: Persons trained in the feudal Japanese art of ninjutsu or a modern equivalent. Collectively, a mercenary force that specialized in spying and executing attacks. Originally these agents had differing names in each region of Japan based on tasks they performed. In most historical Japanese texts they are referred to as 'shinobi'.

| Dutch ..... De naam ninja is een collectieve (westerse) benaming voor een groot aantal krijgers die zich specialiseerden in spionage, informatie verzamelen, en aanslagen uitvoeren. Oorspronkelijk hadden ze per regio van Japan of per taak die ze uitvoerden een andere benaming. In de meeste Japanse historische teksten worden deze krijgers 'shinobi' genoemd. |
