Note: Script of the most ancient Chinese writing so far discovered; the characters are inscribed on tortoise shells or animal bones as records of divination carried out by the royals in the latter half of the Shang dynasty (14th to 11th century BCE). The vast majority of the oracle bones were excavated from the modern Xiaotun Village of Anyang City, Henan Province (or Yinxu, the ruins of the last capital of the Shang dynasty). |

Chinese (traditional) ..... 目前發現中國最古老的一種成熟文字,是中國商代後期(前14~前11世纪)王室用於占卜記事而刻(或寫)在龜甲和獸骨上的文字。多出土於河南安陽小屯村(殷墟)。 |
Dutch ..... Schrift in de oudste tot nu toe ontdekte Chinese geschriften; de karakters zijn gegraveerd op schildpadschilden of dierlijke beenderen als verslagen van profetieën die werden gedaan door koningen in de tweede helft van de Shang-dynastie (14de tot 11de eeuw v.Chr.). De overgrote meerderheid van de orakelbeenderen is opgegraven in het tegenwoordige dorp Xiaotun bij de stad Anyang in de provincie Henan (of in de resten van Yinxu, de laatste hoofdstad van de Shang-dynastie). |
