Note: Synthetically prepared black iron oxide pigment that is permanent, having a warm brownish black color, existing as a dense, heavy powder, and unlike most naturally produced black iron oxide pigments, it is magnetic. Mars black was developed in the early 20th century; it is used in oil paints, watercolors, and mortars and cements, because it does not effloresce.

| Chinese (traditional) ..... 一種合成調製而成的氧化鐵黑色顏料，永久不褪色，色澤呈暖棕黑，以高密度、質重的粉末狀態存在。其具有磁性，不同於大部分天然製造的氧化鐵黑色顏料。馬爾斯黑發展於二十世紀初期，因為不會風化，所以用於油畫、水彩、灰漿及水泥。 |
