Note: Modified nylon developed by DuPont in the 1940's; formerly used in conservation as an adhesive and sizing agent for fragile paper, and as a consolidant for stone and friable pigments. Its use was discontinued following the discovery that over time it becomes insoluble and opaque, and is unsafe to remove.

Additional Notes:
Dutch ..... Aangepaste nylon, ontwikkeld door DuPont in de jaren 1940, die vroeger werd gebruikt bij conservering als hechtmiddel en sterksel voor kwetsbaar papier, en als consoliderend middel voor steen en brosse pigmenten. Het werd niet meer gebruikt toen men ontdekte dat het in de loop der tijd onoplosbaar en ondoorzichtig wordt, waarna het niet meer veilig kan worden verwijderd.
