Note: A traditional technique used in East Asian garden architecture which incorporates a distant landscape into a garden composition. This is done by creating a framing device, usually created with trees or hedges, located some distance from the viewer. This trims the raw view, obscuring spatial depth cues, and has the effect of bringing the distant natural scene forward so as to appear part of the built foreground.

Additional Notes:
Dutch ..... Een traditionele techniek die in Oost-Aziatische tuinarchitectuur wordt gebruikt en waarbij een landschap in de verte in de compositie van een tuin wordt verwerkt. Dit wordt gedaan door een kader te maken, meestal met bomen of heggen, dat zich op enige afstand van de kijker bevindt. Hiermee wordt het uitzicht als het ware bijgesneden en worden elementen die diepte geven aan het uitzicht, aan het oog onttrokken. Het effect is dat een natuurlandschap in de verte naar voren wordt gebracht en deel lijkt uit te maken van de gebouwde voorgrond.
