Note: A data transfer technique that allows the user to access audio and video media via the Internet without downloading the entirety of a very large file. A host or source "streams" packets of information to the user in smaller increments as it is viewed. Unlike downloads, streaming video is not intended to be retained as a file on a viewer's computer.

Een techniek voor gegevensoverdracht waarbij de gebruiker beeldmateriaal en muziek via internet kan beluisteren en bekijken, zonder eerst grote bestanden in hun geheel te hoeven downloaden. Wanneer de gebruiker het materiaal beluistert of bekijkt, ���streamt' een host of bron de gegevens in kleinere hoeveelheden. Bij streaming wordt het materiaal niet op de computer van de gebruiker opgeslagen, zoals bij downloaden gebeurt. |
