| Dutch ..... Te gebruiken voor eenpersoonskano's uit het Noord-Amerikaanse poolgebied, gemaakt van waterdichte huiden die lichte, houten spanten bedekken; worden met behulp van een dubbele peddel voortbewogen. Over het algemeen worden bedoeld kleine boten die hierop lijken, van verschillende soorten materiaal, gemaakt voor de verkoop en die worden gebruikt bij de watersport. Gebruik 'umiaks' voor hierop lijkende Noord-Amerikaanse huidboten die echter groter zijn en aan meer personen ruimte bieden. |

Speziell verwendet für das einsitzige Kanu der nordamerikanischen Ureinwohner der Arktis, abgedeckt mit wasserdichten Häuten, die über ein leichtes Holzgerippe gespannt sind, angetrieben durch ein Doppelpaddel, und allgemein verwendet für das kleine Boot, das diesem ähnlich ist, industriell aus einer Vielzahl von Materialien gefertigt wird und im Sport Verwendung findet. Für das gleichartige nordamerikanische Fellboot, das aber größer ist und mehr als einer Person Platz bietet, siehe "Umjak". |

Úsese específicamente parad designar una canoa de asiento individual, de los nativos árticos de Norte América, con cubiertas de piel herméticas dispuestas sobre un ligero armazón de madera, propulsada por una paleta de doble hoja; y también úsese para designar generalmente los botes pequeños que se asemejan aquéllos realizados comercialmente de una variedad de materiales y utilizados para deporte. Para botes de piel similares de Norte América, pero más grandes y con más asientos, use "umiak”. |
