Note: Ecclesiastical caps, usually square-shaped and stiffened with a lining of heavier fabric, cardboard, or leather, worn with chancel vestments by members of the clergy who do not wear the miter; also worn as an ordinary headdress outside the church. It is topped by a tuft or a cord at the center of three, sometimes four, ridges or corners. The fabric used, its color (red, purple, or black), and its tuft correspond to the rank of the cleric who wears it, cardinal, bishop, or priest.

Chinese (traditional) ..... 教士所戴的無邊帽,通常為方形,並以較厚的織物、硬紙板,或皮革襯裡使其硬挺,由不戴主教冠的神職人員與聖壇祭袍一同穿戴;亦在教堂外做為一般頭飾穿戴。帽上有三或四個帽脊或帽角,帽脊中央處有一飾綴或細繩。四角帽所使用的布料、其顏色(紅、紫或黑色),以及其飾綴,會分別對應戴帽之教會聖職人員的階級:紅衣主教、主教或神父。 
Dutch ..... Kerkelijke, meestal vierkante hoofddeksels met drie of vier rechtopstaande uitsprongen die van het midden van de bovenkant naar de rand lopen. Zijn rood, paars of zwart voor respectievelijk kardinaal, bisschop of priester. Soms met pompon. 
French ..... Coiffure de forme généralement carrée, en étoffe rendue rigide grâce à une doublure de tissu épais ou le plus souvent de carton ou de cuir, portée avec l'habit de choeur par les clercs qui ne portent pas la mitre, mais aussi comme coiffure ordinaire par les clercs, en dehors des églises. La barrette possède à son sommet une houppe ou un cordon duquel partent trois ou parfois quatre cornes. Le tissu qui compose la barrette, sa couleur et celle de la houppe sont fonction de la qualité du clerc qui la porte. 
German ..... Kirchliche Kappe, gewöhnlich rechteckig und versteift, mit einem Futter aus einem schweren Stoff, Karton oder Leder, getragen mit Amtskleidung auf der Kanzel von Mitgliedern der Geistlichkeit, die keine Mitra tragen; auch getragen als gewöhnliche Kopfbedeckung außerhalb der Kirche. Oben auf befindet sich eine Quaste oder eine Kordel in der Mitte von drei, manchmal vier Kanten oder Ecken. Der genutzte Stoff, seine Farbe (rot, violett oder schwarz) und seine Quaste entsprechen dem Rang des Geistlichen, der sie trägt, Kardinal, Bischof oder Priester. 
Italian ..... Berretto in stoffa, di forma generalmente quadrata, divenuto rigido grazie ad una foderatura di tessuto sostenuto, o più spesso di cartone o cuoio, portato con le vesti liturgiche dal clero che non indossa la mitria, ma anche dai chierici come copricapo ordinario fuori dalla chiesa. La berretta presenta alla sommità un fiocco o un cordone da cui partono tre o quattro corni. Il tessuto e il colore della berretta e del fiocco dipendono dalla dignità ecclesiastica: seta marezzata rossa per i cardinali (berretta cardinalizia), panno viola per i vescovi, tessuto nero per la gran parte del clero ordinario (berretta clericale). 
Portuguese ..... Cobertura quadrangular para a cabeça usada, na igreja, juntamente com as vestes litúrgicas, pelo clero sem mitra ou, fora da igreja, como cobertura vulgar usada pelos clérigos. É feito de tecido, com um forro espesso de tecido, cartão ou couro, que o torna rígido e apresenta, no topo, uma borla ou um cordão, de onde partem três ou quatro pontas. O tecido e a cor do barrete varia consoante a dignidade eclesiástica. 
Spanish ..... Gorra eclesiástica, generalmente de forma cuadrada y que tiene tres o cuatros projecciones ascendentes que se extienden desde el centro de la parte superior al borde. Pueden ser rojas, púrpuras o negras, y corresponden al rango de cardenal, obispo o sacerdote.
