Note: Refers to culture, art, and architecture associated with the Islamic Nasrid court at Granada, Spain; it flourished as a brilliant center of Islamic culture for almost eight centuries until 1492 when all of the Iberian peninsula was brought under Christian control. The Alhambra, the royal city of the Nasrids, is one of the most famous Islamic buildings and is the most extensively preserved medieval Islamic palace anywhere. Nasrid architecture is characterized by glittering facades concealing structurally simple buildings; trabeate construction, heavy stone walls, and light wooden roofs are typical. Decoration includes carved and painted stucco, glazed tile, carved and joined wood, and muqarnas vaults. Other noteworthy Nasrid artworks are the large lusterware wing-handled vases known as Alhambra vases (the largest lusterware pots ever made), probably produced in Málaga.

Verwijst naar kunst en architectuur die is verbonden met het islamitische Nasrid-hof in Granada, Spanje; het hof floreerde bijna acht eeuwen als een levendig centrum van islamitische cultuur tot 1492, toen het hele Iberisch schiereiland onder christelijk bestuur werd gebracht. De Alhambra, de koninklijke stad van de Nasrids, is een van de meest beroemde islamitische gebouwen en is het best bewaard gebleven islamitische paleis ter wereld. Nasrid-architectuur wordt gekenmerkt door prachtige façades die eenvoudig gestructureerde gebouwen verbergen; houtskeletbouw, zware stenen muren en lichte, houten daken zijn kenmerkend. Decoraties bestaan uit gesneden en geschilderd stucwerk, geglazuurde tegels, gesneden en samengevoegd hout en muqarnas-gewelven. Andere opmerkelijke kunstwerken zijn de grote lustrewerkvazen met vleugelhandvatten die bekend staan als Alhambravazen (de grootste lustrewerkpotten die ooit zijn gemaakt), waarschijnlijk geproduceerd in Malaga. |
| Spanish ..... Se refiere al arte y arquitectura asociados a la corte islámica Nasrí en Granada, España. Floreció como un brillante centro cultural islámico por casi ocho siglos, hasta 1492 cuando la Península Ibérica en su totalidad se fusionó bajo el control cristiano. La Alhambra, la ciudad real de los Nasrí, es uno de los edificios islámicos más famosos y corresponde al palacio medieval islámico mejor preservado que en ningún otro lugar. La arquitectura Nasrí se caracteriza por fachadas fastuosas que ocultan edificios estructuralmente simples. Son típicas las construcciones envigadas, pesados muros de piedra y livianos cielos de madera. La decoración incluye estuco tallado y pintado, azulejos glaceados, uniones de madera talladas y bóvedas muqarnas. Tendro del arte Nasrí destaca también la loza alada, vidriada y conocida como jarrones de Alhambra, probablemente producidos en Málaga (los jarrones con vidriado de mayor tamaño que se hayan confeccionado). |
