Additional Notes:
Dutch ..... Diepe laagten met steile wanden in de aardkorst, waardoor dikwijls over de bodem een rivier stroomt; veel voorkomend in aride en semi-aride gebieden; te onderscheiden van 'valleien' (aardoppervlakten), die eerder worden gekenmerkt door een vlak landschap dan door hoge, steile hellingen; te onderscheiden van 'kloven' (aardoppervlakten) die doorgaans kleiner, smaller en rotsachtiger zijn. 
German ..... Tiefer, steilwandiger Geländeeinschnitt, oftmals mit Flusslauf am Grund; in ariden und semi-ariden Landstrichen verbreitet. Unterscheidet sich von einem "Tal (Geländeform)", das eher flach denn mit derart starkem Gefälle vorkommt, und von einer "Schlucht", da diese in der Regel kleiner, enger und felsiger ist. 
Spanish ..... Depresión terrestre profunda y de lados escarpados, que tiene por lo general un río en su parte inferior; son comunes en áreas áridas y semiáridas; se distingue de "valle”, el cual tiende a tener un paisaje plano más que alto o de vertientes abruptas; se diferencia de "garganta”, la cual tiende a ser más pequeña, más estrecha y más rocosa.
