Greek myths come alive through spoken word and enchanting Baroque music in this evening with the Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra. Based in Toronto, the renowned orchestra has 18 permanent members, all of whom are specialists in historical performance practice.

About the Program
Composers of the 17th and 18th centuries transformed the heroes and lovers of Ovid's Metamorphoses, a poetic anthology of Greek myths, into classic opera roles such as Orpheus, Echo, Pygmalion, and Acis and Galatea.

The evening's program interweaves selections of this music with the telling of Greek myths by Ovid himself (in the form of actor R. H. Thomson).

Musical Program
The program includes selections from the following Baroque works:

Jean-Philippe Rameau, Castor & Pollux
Jean-Baptiste Lully, Acis & Galatea
Henry Purcell, Fairy Queen
Jean-Philippe Rameau, Pygmalion
Antonio Vivaldi, The Four Seasons
Marin Marais, Alcyone
Alessandro Marcello, Concerto for oboe in D Minor
