PACKAGES

Please be advised that OSIP must be contacted before organizing any shipping of packages to Scholar Housing.

Note that Scholar Housing staff is not responsible for receiving shipments on behalf of residents. For this reason, we strongly discourage having packages shipped/mailed to Scholar Housing. There is no guarantee that a person be present for signature at arrival. Also know that Getty staff at Scholar Housing is not responsible for lost packages before and after delivery. Consequently, we suggest that all your packages be sent to the Getty Center address reported above. Please use the Getty Center address even when your office is located at the Villa.

Please remember that Scholar Housing is not furnished with elevators and that Scholar Housing staff will not be able to help you to carry your packages into your unit. Therefore, limit the size and weight of each package so that you can comfortably bring them into your apartment.

The Getty does not reimburse shipping costs. Also note that the Getty mail room reserves the right to open and inspect all packages.

Be advised that, if you choose to have items sent to the United States, you will be responsible for obtaining and processing the appropriate U.S. Customs paperwork as well as making arrangements for local freight pick up from the port or airport and delivery to the Getty Center.

If you must ship research materials (chemicals, special equipment, hazardous materials, etc.) to the Getty, please make sure to ship them separately from your personal items. Each package must have, placed prominently on the surface, a detailed itemized list, written in English, of the contents of each box.
