Singer-songwriter San Cha is known for her powerful, emotional renditions of traditional Mexican rancheras. On the Getty's courtyard stage, she will perform a theatrical concert complete with a romance, wedding, and betrayal. Special guests and DJs will start the party.

Annual Outdoor Theater Production: The Heal

Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, September 5–28, 8:00 p.m. | The Getty Villa
In this bold new version of Sophocles's timeless tale of hurting and healing, the wounded Philoctetes has suffered alone on a desert island for years, stranded there thanks to Odysseus. But now Odysseus needs Phil's magic weapons to win the Trojan War, and enlists Achilles's daughter Nia to help make peace. Directed and adapted by Aaron Posner; music by Cliff Eberhardt; coproduced by Maryland's Round House Theatre.

Film screening: Citizen Lane

Thursday, September 5, 7:00 p.m. | The Getty Center
The Getty Research Institute presents a special screening of Citizen Lane (2018, 84 minutes, BluRay), a portrait of Irish modern-art collector Hugh Lane. Set in Dublin in the early 20th century, the film richly narrates the story of Lane's establishment of the first public modern art gallery. Morna O'Neill, associate professor of art at Wake Forest University and author of Hugh Lane: The Art Market and the Art Museum 1893–1915, will introduce the film and host a Q&A after the screening.

Blurring the Line: Manuscripts in the Age of Print

August 6–October 27, 2019 | The Getty Center
In the late Middle Ages, new printing technologies in Europe gave rise to a rich period of experimental cross-fertilization: artists created hybrid works including books printed to look like manuscripts and painted compositions modeled after prints. This exhibition includes masterpieces of both media, challenging the division between them.

Drawing from Antiquity: Flora and Fauna in Roman Art

Garden Concerts for Kids: Elena Moon Park and Friends

The band Elena Moon Park and Friends celebrates folk and children's music from all over East Asia, reinterpreted to mix various musical traditions, languages, styles, and stories. The tunes range from northern Japanese sea shanties to Tibetan jump rope rhymes, joyous Korean harvest sing-alongs, and Taiwanese train songs.

Making Mosaics Brick by Brick
