Pistoxenos Painter (Attic vase painter, active ca. 475-450 BCE)
|
Note: The Pistoxenos Painter was one of the first early Classical cup painters whose painting, especially the tondi of his white-ground cups, is noted for its graceful style. Depicting the eye in profile, a characteristic detail of the Classical style, is first seen in his work and that of the Penthesilea Painter. Softer dilute gloss replaces earlier, harder lines and polychromy is added. |
