Diba, Kamran (Iranian architect, urban planner, and painter, born 1937)
|
Note: Diba studied architecture and sociology at Howard University, Washington, DC. In 1966, he returned to Tehran, where he became President and Senior Designer of DAZ Consulting Architects, Planners and Engineers, and served as urban planning consultant to Iran's Ministry of Housing and Urban Development. His works 4 in Iran include the partially completed Shushtar New Town (1974-1980) in Khuzestan, several buildings at Jondi Shapour University (1968-1976) at Ahvaz, and a number of small mosques. The Museum of Contemporary Art (1976) in Tehran is probably his best-known work; he was also the museum's founder and first Director (1976-1978). In 1977, Diba left Iran and served as Visiting Critic at Cornell University, Ithaca, NY. Subsequently, he has lived in Paris and Washington, DC, working in private practice. |
