Delessert, Edouard (French photographer, 1828-1898)
|
Note: Delessert was introduced to photography along with his cousin Benjamin Delessert (1817-1868) probably by Gustave Le Gray in 1840. From 1850 to 1851 Delessert travelled to Palestine. In 1854 Delessert documented the lives of the poor living in the old quarters of London. Delessert also travelled to Sardinia in 1855 and Rome, Italy in 1860. Delessert created a series of travel books based on all of his trips abroad. He also invented the "porte-lumière", an instrument for enlarging negatives. |
