Robert, Louis-Rémy (French photographer, painter, 1810/1811-1882)
|
Note: In 1832, Robert succeeded his father as director of painting on glass at the Sèvres porcelain factory, Sèvres, France. In 1848, Robert became head of the Sèvres painting and gilding workshop, and in 1871, he became the administrator of the Sèvres porcelain factory, a position he held until 1879. Robert learned photography from 1848 to 1850, from Victor Régnault (1810-1878). In 1850, Robert photographed ruins, castle-forts and churches in the region of Burgundy, France. In 1853, Robert photographed at Versailles and some of his images were published in Blanquart-Evrard's 1853 photographic book Souvenirs de Versailles. From 1855 to 1872, Robert taught photographic chemistry at the École des Ponts et Chaussées, Paris. In the late 1850s and 1860s, Robert photographed in and around Saint-Cloud, France. |
