Moses, Grandma (American painter, 1860-1961)

Note: She painted and drew as a child. As an adult, she worked with her husband Thomas Salmon Moses on their farm from 1887. Although she customarily decorated various household items with painted scenes, she was over 70 years old when she began making pictures with embroidered yarn and then painting in oils. She was discovered and her work was exhibited beginning ca. 1938. She had no formal training.
