Note: Born 28 April 1788; died 17 September 1863. Son and apprentice of Samuel Pepys Cockerell (1754-1827), surveyor and architect; father of Frederick Pepys Cockerell who succeded him in his architectural practice. In 1848 Cockerell was recipient of the Royal Gold Medal of the Royal Institute of British Architects. He became president of the Institute in 1860. British architect.
