Brygos (Attic potter, active ca. 490 to 470 BCE)
|
Note: Brygos worked as a potter in Athens ca. 490 to 470 BCE. He specialized in cups and over a dozen with his signature survive. Brygos had a long association with one vase painter, the Brygos Painter, who is named after the potter. Almost all the cups signed by Brygos were decorated by the Brygos Painter or members of his workshop, like the Briseis Painter. Such a close and continued collaboration of potter and painter was unusual in the shifting workshops of the Athenian potters' quarter. |
