Note: Niederstotzingen is a town in the region of Stuttgart in southwestern Germany. It is first mentioned in monastic records in 1049, as the town of Stozzingen. It was the site of an ancient Celtic settlement, and an animal sculpture over 35,000 years old has been found there. It was later the site of a Roman settlement. Receiving the official imperial title of "town" in 1366 and the charter of market town in 1430, it was a thriving center in medieval times. Among the modern town's major economic activities is tourism. In 1992 it became the "twin town" of Bages, France. |
