Foreshortening is using two-dimensional means to create the illusion of three-dimensional projection in space. Join artist Peter Zokosky to explore the dynamics and mechanics of this challenging and rewarding technique. You'll examine original works of art from the collection of the J. Paul Getty Museum at the Getty Center and participate in guided drawing exercises to discover how Old Masters used foreshortening to depict realistic and compelling figures.

Peter Zokosky is a Los Angeles-based painter and teacher who has led numerous popular studio courses at the Getty Center and the Getty Villa on techniques including drawing animals, sculpting portraits in clay, and the art of the quick sketch.

Course fee $25. Open to 25 participants. This course is offered twice:

Wednesday, October 7, 2009 | 1:00—4:00 p.m.
