Participation Project Phase Three

I. July to late-August

• Programming subcommittee meets and creates proposal for specific workshops in conjunction with status quo activities and with available budgets
• Potential artist/teachers contacted for availability.
• Proposal reviewed, revised and approved by Core Leaders.
• Agreements with SHG and Urban Institute finalized
• August 26^th 7:00 pm artist/teacher training workshop at SHG
• August 31st public presentation and launch at SHG @ 7:00 pm, Tertulia about the history and traditions of Day of the Dead celebrations (Consuelo Flores and Anne Murdy)

II. September September 3rd project review, presentation and launch of Phase Three at GRI Promotion of/sign up for workshops in project area September 5, 12, 19, 26 Art making workshops on Saturdays from 12:00 to 5:00 At Aztlan Cultural Center September 23 and 30 Teatro workshops at Self Help Graphics (7:00-10:00)

III. October

• October 3, 10, 17, 24 Art making workshops at Aztlan Cultural Center continue
• October 7, 14, 21, 28 Teatro workshops at Aztlan continue
• October 3 Information table and ongoing art making workshops outdoors at SHG
• October 10, 17 Art making workshops at Proyecto Pastoral
• October 20 @ 7:00 PM, Altar making workshop in tandem with lecture at SHG
• October 24 Final altars installed at SHG
• Week of 10/25 load-in and set up for event

IV. November

• November 1, Sunday: Dia de los Muertos celebration at SHG, including procession on Cesar Chavez Avenue from Proyecto Pastoral to SHG

PHASE 3B

• Week of Nov 2 through week of Nov 16 Workshops continue with focus on upcoming Dia de la Virgen/Las Posadas celebrations. Workshops may include paper mache, choral singing, pastorelas (theatre), preparation of traditional foods, pinata-making, papel picado, altar and banner-making. All workshops will be held at Dolores Mission School-171 S. Gless St.
• November 7 Sat. 12-3 Papel Picado workshops at Dolores Mission School
• November 14 Sat. 12-3 Banners and Paper Mache workshops at Dolores Mission School
• November 21 Sat. 12-3 Altar making and Paper Mache workshops at Dolores Mission School (week of Nov 23rd off - Thanksgiving Holiday)

VII. December December 5 Sat. 12-3 Banners and Food Preparation Workshops at Dolores Mission December 9: Tertulia at Self Help Graphics December 12: Dia de la Virgen celebration Dec 16, 19, 23: Las Posadas processions/celebrations
