In 1953 Nancy Newhall, in cooperation with Weston, put together a mock-up for a book of the artist's nudes.
The mock-up, which failed to find a reputable publisher in its day, contained 39 gelatin silver prints of nudes and selected still lifes and landscapes juxtaposed to demonstrate the photographer's unifying vision of natural form.
The book that Weston and Newhall intended, but were unable to accomplish in their lifetimes, was finally published in 2007 in coordination with this exhibition.
