Letter to Napoleon Bonaparte |

|
Excellency, In accordance with the honor I had of writing you, I went to the feet of Your Majesty to offer the homage of my gratitude. I was in Paris briefly to get what I need for the portrait that I must make of Her Majesty the Empress. I went twice to see you to have the pleasure of congratulating you but I did not have the good fortune to see you. I ask you to receive witness of this through this letter that I have the honor of addressing to you, and deign to believe that I am, with the highest consideration, Your Excellency's Most humble and obedient servant Fontainebleau October 18, 1810 |
