Archivio Bioiconografico (Italian archive, established 1945)
|
Note: The Archive was officially born in 1945, the collection is a department of the the National Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art, preserving documents on art from the 19th century onwards in Italy and in the world through the retrieval, conservation and filing of press clippings, invitations to exhibitions and artistic events, posters, small catalogs, posters, photos of works and more. The methods of increasing this archive were of various kinds: alongside the canonized and more conspicuous one that was the subscription to the Eco della Stampa, a news agency for finding the press review of specific interest in art modern and contemporary, there is a form of spontaneous increase, linked to the direct relationship with living artists or with their heirs, who have often provided unique material and, sometimes, impossible to find in any other way.
