Chambiges, Pierre (French architect, died 1544)

Note: Pierre Chambiges was apprenticed as a master mason in his father Martin Chambiges's workshops at Troyes in 1509 and at Beauvais in 1511 where he was appointed co-master in 1518. Pierre Chambiges was the father of Pierre Chambiges II, master builder. From 1533 to 1544 Pierre Chambiges directed the construction of the hôtel de ville of Paris, France, designed by Domenico da Cortona. The work was continued by his son-in-law Guillaume Guillain from 1549 to 1551. French architect.
