Hennix, Catherine Christer (Swedish-American sound artist, visual artist, and mathematician, 1948-2023)

Note: Hennix was among the pioneers in Sweden experimenting with main-frame computer-generated sound in the 1960s. In the 1970s she met and collaborated with La Monte Young and Henry Flynt in New York. Through Young she studied with Pandit Pran Nath and from that time pursued just intonation tuning system, and long form musical drones. She also acted as a professor of mathematics and computer science. Hennix, who had gone by Christer, began identifying as a woman in the late 1980s, and became known as Catherine or C.C.
