Siyavush (Persian illustrator, ca. 1536-before 1616)
|
Note: Siyavush was a Georgian slave who studied under Muzaffar 'Ali and became a good companion of Shah Tahmasp I (reigned 1524-1576). There are 19 works representing his mature style in the incomplete copy of Shāhnāma that was made for Isma'il II (reigned 1576-1578). According to A. Welch the composition of his paintings is logical yet the expressions of the figures lack psychological depth. |
