Qasim 'Ali (Persian portraitist and courtier, active ca. 1475-1526)
|
Note: Qasim 'Ali was a major painter in the court of Husayn Bayqara (reigned 1470-1506). His paintings are known to have elements of Bihzad's paintings imbued in them. Some works attributed to him are the illustrate copy of 'Alishir's Khamsa (Five poems, 1485) and a copy of Ahsan al-kibar (1525). The historian Khwāndamīr (died 1535-1536) and the chronicler, Mirza Muhammad Haydar Dughlat (1500-1551) have made references to him in their works. |
