Sedgfield, Russell (English photographer, 1826-1902)
|
Note: Sedgfield photographed mainly in Wiltshire and Hertfordshire, England, in and about town such as Salisbury, Glastonbury, Stonehenge, Bath and Chippenham. Knight mentions that Sedgfield was "connected with" the London Stereoscopic Co. during the 1850s. In 1858 Sedgfield moved to Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire and set up a studio and photographic printing facilities. In the early 1860s Sedgfield photographed Salisbury Cathedral and the Isle of Wight. In the 1860s Sedgfield moved his operation to Norbiton, Kingston-on-Thames where he produced cartes-de-visite. From 1862 to 1864, Sedgfield photographed in the British Isles for William and Mary Howitt's book entitled "Ruined Abbeys and Castles of Great Britain and Ireland." Sedgfield practiced as a professional portrait photographer until 1890. |
