'Abdallah Khan (Persian painter, active ca. 1810-1850)
|
Note: One of 'Abdallah Khan's major works is a mural (1812-1813) at the Nigaristan Palace in Tehrān; in includes118 life-size figures covering three walls. On the end wall the king Fath 'Ali Shah (reigned 1797-1834) is depicted with his sons surrounding him. The courtiers and ambassadors occupy the sidewalls; among them are British ambassador Sir Gore Ouseley (1770-1844) and Napoleon's envoy C. M. Gardane (1766-1818). He also painted a portrait of Fath 'Ali Shah glorified in a red robe and a astrakhan cap and another mural (1813-14) of Agha Muhammad (reigned 1779-97) and Fath 'Ali Shah on the walls of the Sulaymaniyya Palace. |
