Revell, Viljo (Finnish architect, 1910-1964)
|
Note: An early Finnish modernist, Revell designed his first important work in 1935, the Grass Palace, a Helsinki complex containing office space, a cinema and a restaurant. Apart from a brief period in Alvar Aalto's office, Revell had a private practice from 1936 until his death. After World War II, he was the head of the Bureau of Reconstruction. Revell preferred to work with a group of architects, in contrast to many in Finland at the time, which gave his works a style that was at times devoid of individualism. Finnish architect. |
