Newton, Neil (Canadian photographer, printmaker, and artist, born 1933)

Note: Newton studied at the St. Martin School of Art in London (1953-1955) and with Nathan Lyons (1973) and Arthur Kramer (1977) at the Visual Studies Workshop (VSW) in Rochester. He earned the title Master Photographer from the Professional Photographers of America in 1969. In 1979 he was a visiting artist at the Emily Carr College of Art in Vancouver, British Columbia, and at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon. From 1976 to 1978, he served in the Artists with Their Work Program at the Art Gallery of Ontario. He worked with Artists in the School Program sponsored by the Ontario Arts Council in Dunbarton, Ontario, and was a visiting artist through the Canada Council at the Atikokan Centennial Museum [ca. 1983]. He was the director of The Photography Gallery in Bowmanville, Ontario [ca. 1988].
