Yi Yeongyun (Korean painter and calligrapher, 1561-1611)
|
Note: Yi Yeongyun was a painter, calligrapher, and royal relative in the mid-Joseon period. He is considered to have actively embraced the Southern School of Painting style, including the work of Huang Gongwang, during the mid-Joseon period when the Zhe School style was in vogue. The supplementary collection "Yeollyeosilgisul" (Narratives of Yeollyeosil) states that Yi Yeongyun's painting style was similar to that of his elder brother Yi Gyeongyun (1545-1611), but he was considered to be better than his brother in depictions of birds, horses, and other animals. |
