Ghaffari family (Persian painters and administrators, active ca. 1750-1941)
|
Note: The Ghaffari family were the descendants of Qazi 'Abd al-Muttalib, father of Qazi Ahmad. However, the first well-known member of the family is Mu'izz al-Din Muhammad Ghaffari. Starting in 1749 he served as the governor of Kāshān, Jawshaqan, Qom, and Natanz for Karim Khan of Zand (reigned 1750-1779). His son, Abu'l-Hasan Mustawfi Ghaffari was the royal secretary and became an important painter. Abu'l-Hasan Ghaffari and Muhammad Ghaffari followed in their footsteps. |
