Shaykhzada (Persian painter, active ca. 1520-1540)
|
Note: According to Mustafa 'Ali, Shaykhzada is from the province of Khorāsān. Illuminations ascribed to him survive in three major manuscripts. One is from a copy of Hafiz's Dīvān (1526-1527), fourteen are found in a copy of Nizami's Khamsa (1524-1525) and four illuminations are in a copy of 'Alishir Nava'i's Dīvān. After joining the Uzbek court his style is mostly defined by his puffy-faced, heavy-browed figures. |
