'Alishir Nava'i (Persian patron and poet, 1441-1501)
|
Note: 'Alishir Nava'i was an active member in the court of Husayn Bayqara (reigned 1470-1506) as well as a wealthy member of the Uyghur chancellery scribes. As a former governor he was able to establish a strong relationship with the king and became a major patron of the arts. As a patron of books and architecture he raised support for the production of elaborate manuscripts and took on more than 370 projects that restored monumental structures such as the Ikhlasiyya complex (1476-7), the iwan of the congregational mosque (1498-1500), the shrine of 'Abdallah Ansari at Gazur Gah, and the shrine of the imam 'Ali Riza at Mashhad (1467). |
