Architectural Drawings Advisory Group (International advisory consortium, created in 1983)
|
Note: Convened in 1983 by the Center for Advanced Study in the Visual Arts at the National Gallery in Washington, D.C. The primary goal of ADAG was to build consensus about cataloguing in order to improve access to repositories of architectural documents. ADAG also aspired to define new standards for such information and to develop innovative methods of retrieval. Representatives to the consortium were international, with institutions from Austria, Canada, England, France, Germany, Italy, and the United States participating. Libraries, archives, research centers, museums, and professional architectural associations were represented. Each member institution sent one or more representatives to three annual meetings. The J. Paul Getty Trust partially funded a staff for ADAG at CASVA and the Getty Art History Information Program and the staff of the Art and Architecture Thesaurus also provided expertise. Represented institutions were: the Royal Institute of British Architects; the Centre Canadien d'Architecture; the National Archives of Canada; the American Architectural Foundation; American Institute of Architects; the Avery Architectural and Fine Arts Library, Columbia University; the Cooper-Hewitt Museum, Smithsonian Institution; the Library of Congress; the National Archives and Records Administration of the United States; the National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C.; the Victoria and Albert Museum; and the Deutsches Architekturmuseum. |
