Fontana family (Italian ceramicists, active 16th-17th centuries)
|
Note: Italian family of ceramicists, founded by Guido Durantino, an established potter in Urbino by 1519, who adopted the name Fontana by 1553. His three sons, Nicolo, Camillo, and Orazio took part in the business and it became one of the most influential in the area during the 16th century. Nicola di Gabriele Sbraghe, formerly incorrectly identified as Nicolò Pelliparia, was one of at least six painters whose hand can be identified among the marked works from the Fontana shop. |
