Note: The pietra dura studio operated for only for a short time in Paris. This was due to the new 18th-century Regence style, which was light and made the heavy objects suited to pietra dura emblishments go out of fashion. In addition, the greatest specialists in pietra dura art had died. Most of the objects that were manufactured at the Gobelins have been lost or broken up. |
