Hanson, David Taverner (American photographer, born 1948)
|
Note: Born 28 January 1948. Hanson was technical assistant and apprentice to Minor White in 1973-1974. Hanson taught at Phillips Academy, Andover, Massachusetts from 1975 to 1978. In 1980-1981, Hanson was assistant to the photographer Frederick Sommer. In 1983 Hanson received his Master of Fine Arts degree in photography from the Rhode Island School of Design, Providence, Rhode Island. Hanson has taught at the school since 1983. Hanson began to photograph the wilderness in national parks in the American West. As he began to incorporate man-made elements into his landscapes he began to address broader social and environmental issues. In his Colstrip, Montana series (1980s) he examined the effects of strip mining. |
