Niedecken, George Mann (American interior designer, 1878-1945)
|
Note: Born 16 August 1878; died 3 November 1945. Niedecken attended the Wisconsin Art Institute in Milwaukee in 1890 and enrolled in design classes at the Art Institute of Chicago from 1897 to 1898. He then studied in Paris, France, probably at the Academy Julien, from 1899 to 1900 and taught a decorative design class at the Milwaukee Art Students League from 1902 to 1909. He founded the Niedecken-Walbridge Co. (Milwaukee, Wisconsin) with John S. Walbridge in 1907. He collaborated with Frank Lloyd Wright from 1904 to 1918 on the interior design of such houses as Coonley House (Chicago, Illinois) (1908-1909), and Robie House (Chicago, Illinois) (1910). |
