Walters, Henry (American philanthropist and collector, 1848-1931)
|
Note: Son of William Thompson Walters, a railroad businessman. Henry was a businessman, an art collector, and philanthropist. He expanded on his father's collection and founded the Walters Art Gallery (now the Walters Art Museum) in Baltimore, Maryland. He served on the executive committee of the Metropolitan Museum of Art from 1903. He was selected as second vice president in 1913, a position he held until his death. |
