Heythum, Antonín (Czech architect, furniture and set designer, 1901-1954)
|
Note: Architect and designer was a member of the Czech avant-garde group Devětsil from 1924. In 1926 he was among the founders of the Osvobozené Divadlo, a theater group for which he designed sets in the Constructivist style. He worked for the National Theater simultaneously and from 1927 to 1929 he was chief set designer for the České divadlo in Olomouc. In the 1930s he designed exhibitions and mass-produced furniture from tubular steel and standardized parts. Heythum emigrated to the United States in 1938. |
