Giannini, Orlando (American sculptor, designer, and glass designer, 1861-1928)
|
Note: Orlando was manager of the Cincinnati Art Pottery Company from 1883 to 1885 and then moved to New York. From 1890 he was active as a designer in Chicago, where he worked at Adams and Westlake, a brass and bronze foundry, from 1894 to 1898. He formed the firm of Giannini and Hilgart, glass stainers, in 1899. Giannini designed the glass while his partner, Fritz Hilgart, provided technical expertise. The firm collaborated with Frank Lloyd Wright on such houses as the Frank Thomas House in Chicago (1901) and the Darwin D. Martin House in Buffalo, New York (1904). |
