Behring, Edith (Brazilian painter, 1916-1996)
|
Note: She began studying drawing and painting under Candido Portinari (1903 - 1962). She earned a bachelor's degree in artistic education from the former Federal District University. Between 1944 and 1950, she lived in Belo Horizonte, where she taught drawing at the Escola Guignard. On returning to Rio de Janeiro, she studied woodcut and drawing in gouache under Axl Leskoschek (1889 - 1975) and metal engraving under Carlos Oswald (1882 - 1971), at the Getúlio Vargas Foundation. In 1953, she was awarded a scholarship to study painting from the French government. |
