Mir 'Ali Tabrizi (Persian calligrapher, active ca. 1340-1420)
|
Note: Mir 'Ali Tabrizi was a calligrapher credited with the invention of the nasta'liq, a rhythmic and curvilinear script. Mir 'Ali ibn Ilyas, Ahmad ibn Uways (reigned 1382-1410), and Mir ' Ali ibn Hasan al-Sultani testified to Tabrizi's accomplishment. The one surviving work is an incomplete manuscript of Nizami's Khusraw and Shirin (1405-1415). |
