Yun Sun (Korean calligrapher and government official, 1680-1741)
|
Note: Yun Sun was a calligrapher and civil official active in the late Joseon Dynasty. He interacted academically with people who shared his political orientation, which included a number of figures of outstanding artistic talent such as the painter and calligrapher Yi Hagon (1677-1724) and the calligrapher Seo Myeonggyun (1680-1745). Yun's calligraphy was based mainly on traditional examples such as Wang Xizhi, but he also embraced the calligraphy of the Tang, Song, and Ming Dynasties, leading him to employ a wide variety of calligraphic styles. His calligraphy influenced people in later generations, such as Yi Gwangsa (1705-1777), who also followed the traditional styles of calligraphy. |
