Kim Sangsuk (Korean calligrapher and government official, 1717-1792)
|
Note: Kim Sangsuk was a calligrapher, calligraphy theorist, and civil official in the late Joseon Dynasty. He incorporated Daoist ideas into his poetry and calligraphy, and interacted with literati such as Park Jiwon (1737-1805), Seong Daejung (1732-1812), and the prominent calligrapher Yi Gwangsa (1705-1777). He advocated a theory that Korean calligraphy is equivalent or even superior to Chinese calligraphy, established his own unique Jikha style, and wrote a book on calligraphy theory. |
